Thursday, June 22, 2006 The Return of the Blog Wow, in four years I don't think I've ever gone this long without posting. Anyway, the blog is back. I'm sitting in MoJoe's Coffee right now, borrowing a kind audience member's laptop; tonight the cafe is hosting a benefit for Chicago Books to Women in Prison, a very cool organization that donates books to prisoners and tries to meet requests for specific literature as often as possible. I opened the night for a great crowd. And I have to say, the cafe is a fantastic discovery as well. Summer is undoubtedly the best time to be in Chicago. The last couple of weeks have started the season of free outdoor events, like the Chicago Blues Festival (the largest of its kind in the country), Summerdance (live music and lessons beforehand in various dance styles), and the Grant Park Music Festival (classical concerts). I've settled into my apartment, and it now feels like home since all of my books are there. We still need a dining table and some furnishings, but it's definitely starting to feel comfortable. ^ Top | 8:12 PM | | |
