• "I'm bored." If you're easily bored, you're probably not a very interesting person. You're supposed to be telling us why you're worth a potential date's time, not saying, "I can't find a way to entertain myself."
  
• "Looking for someone with a sense of humor." Who isn't? No, I'm looking for someone that never laughs and can't appreciate a joke. That would be interesting.
  
• "I'm attractive." In a forum that makes posting a photo easy, why tell us that you're attractive? Post a photo and let the viewer decide. What's funnier are the people who post photos and extol their attractiveness--usually they're not.
  
• Grammatical problems. I understand the occasional typo--it happens to the best of us--but when someone writes a sentence like "watches TV (even though i dont get to do it often)"--and this was taken from a real post--I'm sorry, but my estimation of your intelligence drops a few levels.
  
• "Looking for someone normal." Who wants normality? Normal people are boring.
  
• Lots of disclaimers. "My friends would say I'm [insert adjective here]" or "people have said I'm [insert adjective here]." Just say what you're going to say and don't apologize for it.
  
• ALL CAPS. BECAUSE I EITHER HIT THE CAPS LOCK KEY ON ACCIDENT OR THINK THAT INTERNET "SHOUTING" WILL GET ME MORE ATTENTION. In reality, your writing just becomes harder to read.
  
• "I'm intelligent." Oh really. Like the aforementioned attractiveness, I'll be the judge of that. (Hint: it helps to use complete sentences, real words and punctuation if you make this claim.)
